September 1996 Monthly Report
Page 5
- Cement Creek Diversion and Water Treatment
Cement Creek diversion and water treatment has been active
continuously from August 2, 1996 through September 30, 1996.
For most of this time period, the entire flow of Cement Creek
was diverted and treated along with the portal flow from the
American Tunnel.
Attached are results from flow and quality monitoring of;
Cement Creek diverted for treatment (CC -1B); American Tunnel
flow before treatment (AT- INFEL); dissolved metal analysis of
the AT -004 discharge; and Cement Creek below the AT -004
discharge point (CC -20).
Attached are site update pictures of the Cement Creek
diversion.
- Mainstem Stream Monitoring and Reference Point Stream
Monitoring
The results from the August 14 sampling of the reference point
(A -72) and other three gaging stations (A -69, C -48 and M -34)
are attached. The reference point sample for September was
taken on September 27th with the other three gaging stations
scheduled to be taken by the Bureau of Reclamation. The
results from the September sample were not received in time
for this report and will be included in the November report.
Based on provisional flow measurements, the flow at the
reference point A -72 during the August 14, 1996 sampling
session was 101 cfs. This will place the result in the
intermediate flow category (100 cfs < Q < 300 cfs). The
reported dissolved zinc value was 440 mg /1 which is an average
of the results from two labs.
The index number for this result is:
Xi = 440
Xf = 399
Sf = 144
Ni = (Xi - Xf) /Sf
Ni = (440 - 399)/144
Ni = 0.28
The index number graph and updated reporting table are
attached.
