Bulkhead Construction Costs
Page 2
An estimate of these savings is given below:
Terry Tunnel Bulkhead
Ventilation $16,550
Limestone Placement $12,831
1/2 Bulkhead Bracing $ 2,900
Forming and Water Diversion $10,000
1 month of Equipment Usage $15,315
Hoistman $10,800
Estimated Savings $68,396
American Tunnel Bulkhead
Ventilation $57,983
Limestone Placement $ 6,089
Coffer Dam Construction $15,000
1/2 Bulkhead Bracing and Forms $12,000
1 month of Equipment Usage and
Electricity $17,855
Estimated Savings $108,927
Therefore the costs incurred by SGC (approximately $562,000) are
probably $177,000 over what would be incurred upon replacement.
Another factor to be considered is that under any probable
circumstance where the Division would have to perform a bulkhead
replacement, a large portion of the equipment would be onsite for
usage. Therefore, SGC believes that a bond amount of $500,000
would be adequate to replace the bulkheads (including G and A and
Contractor profit) and proposes that amount.
Please contact me to discuss this submittal if you have any
questions. If the Division does not agree with the above proposal,
SGC will be available to meet with you to set the amount. Upon
agreement of the amount, SGC will submit a Letter of Credit to be
issued in favor of the Division and will proceed with valve
closure.
Sincerely,
Larry Perino
Reclamation Manager
