Pride of the West Tailings are located approximately 4.5 miles NE of Silverton, in <br /> portions of the SW 1/4 of Section 1 , T41 N, R7W, NMPM, San Juan County. <br /> Inspection Date: 6/3/97 Inspection occurred at 1 :00 pm through 2:00 pm <br /> SGC Representative: Mr. Larry Perino <br /> DMG Inspector: Wally Erickson 0,t Ecl%a7f �fY_ 71111 <br /> Observations: Relocation of the pre-law Pride of the West tailings had commenced. <br /> Hydraulic excavator was excavating tailings from the SE end of the tailings pile and <br /> loading tailings into trucks. Two Volvo 6x6 end dump trucks were transporting tailings to <br /> Howardsville Mill Lower Tailings Pond. Three tandem axil end dump trucks were <br /> transporting tailings to Mayflower Pond #4. Silt fence and straw bail sediment filters <br /> were intact. Perimeter of target tailings were delineated by survey stakes. <br /> SGC has received approval from DMG, and operator of Howardsville Mill permit, Joe <br /> Baldwin, and court appointed Receiver for Howardsville Mill property, Jerry Sandell, for <br /> pre-law tailings relocation to Howardsville Mill Lower Tailings Pond. <br /> Mr. Perino stated that test holes had revealed a thicker slime layer in the pre-law tailings <br /> than originally anticipated. Results of initial test holes indicate a 6' to 12' thick slime <br /> layer.
