Upon <br /> opening and inspection of the tunnel, it was determined that this <br /> project requires two bulkheads; one in solid ground approximately <br /> 150 feet from the portal and one near surface to impound the near <br /> surface groundwater and reestablish the natural flow of groundwater <br /> in the weathered near-surface rock. <br /> These designs are similar to those used for construction of the <br /> Sunnyside Mine bulkheads and were provided by the same design <br /> engineer, John F.
