The GEC Mine is a reclaimed surface mine
that has had the permit revoked. All remaining bond moneys have been used for reclamation activities at the site.
The Division retains no additional bond moneys for this site.

The weather has been extremely hot and dry in the area. Fire danger has been extreme in the area. A smoke
plume could be seen in the distance from a wildland fire north and west of Canon City. The morning had a low
cloud cover, turning sunny, hot and gusty as the afternoon passed.

The landowner, Dr. Corley, had previously informed the Division of trespass on the mine site. There was a tire at
the entrance gate with a hole through the side. The landowner had moved two large boulders to the top of the
pond embankment to deter future vehicle access. In spite of vegetative cover on the sediment in the pond, a two
track could be seen exiting the west end of the pond area.

HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7,
4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9;
One sediment pond remains on site. This pond is full of sediment. The sediment shows a healthy stabilizing stand
of Smooth bromegrass and Indian ricegrass. Sediment reaching this pond is slowed by this vegetation. There are
several ditches remaining on site. There are no stock tanks constructed on the reclaimed areas.

ROADS Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4)

The access road through the site is controlled with a locked gate. This road is also used by the Southfield mine to
gain access to the Monarch fan site located east and south of the GEC property.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2

28
Page of
