Janet Binns, Dan Hernandez and Jason Musick of the Division accompanied me
The main focus of this inspection was to conduct year nine vegetation monitoring. The methods and results will
be detailed in the Reclamation Success section below. the weather was hot and sunny and the ground was dry.

BACKFILL and GRADING
Rule 4.14 Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour
4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials
4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
- The regraded East Mine, West Mine and Bleeder Entries areas were all well graded and stable at the time of the
inspection. There was no cracking, settling or slumping of the backfill noted. There were no erosional problems
noted on any of the backfilled areas at the time of the inspection.

RECLAMATION SUCCESS
- Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
- There were three discrete areas of the mine that were sampled, the east mine, the west mine and the bleeder
entries. The east and west mine areas are basically the same size, approximately 10 acres, and the bleeder entry
site is much smaller, approximately 0.5 acres. A total of 30 transects were sampled, with 14 transects each in the
east and west mine areas and two transects in the bleeder entry area. The transect locations were randomly
selected using ArcMap 10. The locations were then uploaded onto a Trimble Yuma GPS unit, which was used to
navigate to each transect. Transects lengths for cover for the east and west mines were 25 meters long, with 10
sample points taken every 2.5 meters, starting at 2.5 meters and ending at 25 meters. Transect lengths for cover
for the bleeder entry area were 10 meters long, with 10 sample points taken every 1.0 meters, starting at 1.0 meters
and ending at 10 meters. The reason for the shorted transect lengths at the bleeder entry location was due to the
areas small size. Cover transects for the east and west mines began at sample point 1 and were oriented towards
the next transect (transect 1 towards transect 2, 2 towards 3, etc.). The last transect was directed back to transect 1.
For the bleeder entry transects, the direction was randomly chosen (since there were only two transects).
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 4
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2

210
Page of
