mine portal entrance. The tank will be bermed to contain any spills or other releases to the
environment.
Diesel fuel, small amounts of oils, and antifreeze will be used in the mine equipment. Storage and
use of these products is discussed in Exhibit D and the SPCC Plan.
6. Designated Chemicals and Materials Handling
The MCP / SPCC Plan located in Appendix 10 has a section devoted to the handling of all
designated and non - designated chemicals. The chemicals will be delivered to the site by small truck
and will be unloaded by a bobcat, small front end loader or forklift. The unloading area will be a
20' x 20' compacted pad that is slightly mounded 5" high on all sides but with mild slopes to allow
equipment operation. The chemicals will be in their factory containers and will be taken
underground through the mill tunnel to their storage location, as shown on Map C -2. Personnel will
be trained in the proper handling, storage and use of the chemicals, as well as the procedures in
handling any spills. Inspections will be conducted of the entire process as described in the
MCP /SPCC Plan.
Since it is planned to run approximately 80,000 tons of ore through the mill annually, the annual
consumption of the chemicals is estimated below:
1. Calcium Oxide (CaO) -.01 lb /ton 100% powder Usage: 0.4 tons per year
2. Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) -very limited and near 0 use 50% solution Usage: 150 gallons
per year
3. Sodium Hydrogen Sulfide (NaSH) -1 lb /ton 100% granular Usage: 40 tons per year
4. Sodium Bisulfate (NaHSO4H2O) 1 lb /ton 100% granular Usage: 40 tons per year
5. Copper Sulfate (CuSO4) .01 lb /ton 100% granular Usage: 0.4 tons per year
Spills and leaks from the treatment system will be contained as described in Section 1.3 of this
Exhibit and the MCP / SPCC in Appendix 10.
If it is necessary to temporarily shut down the mine, the mill will be shut down until needed.
Temporary shutdown will include removing any liquid sodium hydroxide from the mine and
removing it from the site. The mill portal and the main Revenue portal will then be gate locked and
Revenue Mine August 2012 T -
