OF NATURAL RE50::RCES
Re: Five-Year Waste Disposal Site Plan - Coal Basin Mines, C-017-81
Dear Jim:
The following is in response to your letter of January 3, 1983:
1. SOILS INFORMATION
a. Access Road. See attached report from Dan Champion. The sample
points are shown on a copy of Geo-Hydro's map from their sub-
mittal of November 19, 1982, Sheet 7, Access Road Design. This
report shows in detail the road construction.
b. Two-Year and Five-Year Waste Disposal Sites. It is estimated
from the soils, geology and vegetation studies that topsoil will
average from 1112 to 18", and this would be the amount salvaged
and replaced. Additional soils studies will be done if necessary
to verify depths of soil in areas before clearing begins.
2. VEGETATION INFORMATION, ELEVATION 9050 to 9250 FEET
The plant community type is predominantly aspen woodland and contains
small areas mainly in the bottom, south facing of aspen shrubland and
then on the north facing, spruce/fir parkland. See Volume 6,
App. 111-H-1 pages 8 through 18. The reference area mentioned on
page 16 is directly adjacent to the proposed waste-disposal site.
(See enclosed map 11-B-2C; also see 11-H-1 which shows sample area
boundaries.)
We believe this area has been extensively monitored for vegetation
information.
3. RECLAMATION PLAN (See Geo-Hydro Sheet 8, 1-0)
a. Access Road. Topsoil salvage depths average 2211 (see soils),
taking the road length of 900' to 10001+ and width of 201+
1.83' x 20' x 1000' = 36,600 cu. ft. : 27 = 1355.6 cu. yds.
b. Two-Year and Five-Year Waste Disposal Sites ,
As stated in the soils information section, average soil cover is
