F coz
0.p DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
Q 9O D Monte Pascoe,Executive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION =
# * DAVID C.SHELTON Director
1876
Richard D Lamm
Governor
Mr. Doug Bowman
Mid-Continent Resources, Inc.
P.O. Box 158
Carbondale, Colorado 81623
Re: Coal Basin Mines - Draft Findings Document
Our File: No. C-017-81
Dear Mr. Bowman:
Enclosed is a copy of the draft findings document for the Coal Basin Mines.
This document serves two purposes. First, it identifies those issues which
have yet to be resolved, and second, it contains the draft findings of
compliance required for permit issuance. At this time, a decision to either
approve or deny the permit application has not been made. The final decision
will depend on whether the issues identified in this document are resolved in
a timely manner.
The Division encourages you to respond to as many of the stipulations as
possible before the Division issues its proposed decision to approve or
deny your permit.
There are two additional issues not identified in the draft findings document
which must be resolved before the Division can issue its proposed decision.
First, Mid-Continent submitted me a copy of revised sediment control designs
for the preparation plant area. This material must be incorporated into the
permit application. Second, Rule 2.10.3(2) requires. that all maps, plans,
and cross-sections required by the Regulations be prepared by or under the
direction of, and certified by, a registered professional engineer or profess-
ional geologist. The Division also requires that one copy of the maps, plans,
and cross-sections contain an original stamp and signature.
Please contact the Division when you are prepared to respond to the remaining
deficiencies so we can set up a meeting to discuss the proposed responses.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
