Tony Tennyson and Chip Brown of Colowyo also
participated in the inspection. The ground was entirely free of snow. The weather was hot and windy at times; no
precipitation was experienced.
Activities on site during the one -day inspection included:
• The 102 dragline was below the West Pit Spoil Pile (aka Hink's Peak) on the south side.
• In the West Pit, the 103 dragline was casting spoil.
• In the East Pit, the 101 dragline was idle.
• In South Taylor Pit, the 114 shovel was loading trucks with overburden; the 115 excavator was walking to
a new location.
• Trucks were dumping material on the West Taylor Fill.
EXCESS SPOIL and DEVELOPMENT WASTE — Rule 4.09:
West Taylor Fill was observed from the road below and from the bench for a drill rig, and no problems were
observed. The rig was installing a piezometer to a depth below the underdrain. Topsoil has been spread on the
entire face.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05:
In the X -Pod area, near the recently planted trees, two constructed ditches, D and F, were inspected. Both ditches
are approximately 30 to 40 feet wide and trapezoidal in shape. In Ditch F the majority of rock is 2 to 4 feet in
diameter. In Ditch D, the rock is much smaller.
The following ponds were inspected: Prospect, Gulch A, West Taylor, East Taylor, Section 16, Loop, Gossard,
Work Area, and West Pit. West Taylor and East Taylor were discharging. The discharge water was clear for these
ponds. No problems were identified with dams or other structural aspects of the ponds.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 10
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 2 of 11
