Box 158, Carbondale, Colorado 81623
County:
Pitkin
File No.:
C-017-81
Date:
July 22, 1981
Time:
8:30 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.
Wea ther:
Warm, clear
Operator contact:
Doug Bowman
State Inspector:
Jim Herron
I. General Comments
This was a partial inspection of the mine site. Eilene Doherty of the Office of
Surface Mining was also present to do an overview inspection.
This was the first time that mine #4 was inspected this year. This mine has been
inactive for almost a year and snow had blocked the road until this month.
Construction had started on the access road to escape portals between #3 and #5
mines. Also, longwall chocks were being taken into #2 mine through an escapeway between
#1 and #3 mines.
Mr. Bowman informed us that it may be difficult to meet some of the abatement
deadlines because of the present strike by the Redstone Miners Association.
