General Comments <br /> This was a complete inspection of the Coal Basin Mines. <br /> Fred Banta, Jim Pentleton, and Roy Cox were present during a portion of the inspection on <br /> September 17th. <br /> The coal processing/office area, refuse pile, rock tunnel, 1,2,3,&5 mines, the road system <br /> to the mines, and the proposed site of a future coal processing waste pile were inspected <br /> on September 17. On September 18, an attempt was made to inspect the subsidence moni- <br /> toring network via exploration roads. Due to mechanical problems, the trip could not be <br /> completed. The mine #2 escapeways were inspected along with the mine #5 fan and fan access <br /> road and mine #4. <br /> The strike by the Redstone Miners Association has been over for several weeks. Coal is <br /> currently being produced at #3 & #5 mines, and #2 mine is planned to be in production in <br /> the near future. Mine #1 will start production following approval to mine by MSHA. Mine <br /> .#4 is currently shut down with no plans to open it in the near future. <br />
