Road E, the Overland Conveyor Area and a portion of the Old Refuse Area have been
previously reclaimed. A portion of the Sutey Refuse Disposal Area has also been reclaimed.
Access to these areas will need to be accomplished by all terrain vehicle, horseback or foot.
Access by vehicles other than all terrain vehicle will not be permitted at any area which has
been reclaimed.
The Road A Area and the westerly portion of the Sutey Refuse Disposal Area are accessible
truck traffic.
CONTRACTOR shall apply specified chemical herbicide treatments for the purpose of
controlling noxious weed infestations at the Coal Basin Mine. The species of noxious weeds to
be managed at this location include Plumeless thistle (Carduus acanthoides), Canada thistle
(Cirsium arvense) and Houndstongue (Cynoglossum officinale).
CONTRACTOR shall provide all equipment, chemicals and labor necessary to accomplish
application throughout the project area. Tordon will be applied at an application rate of two (2)
quarts per acre.
CONTRACTOR will be responsible for properly securing chemicals until Project completion. i
CONTRACTOR shall apply the herbicides provided at the rate of application above.
Note that a clean water source may not be readily available at the mine site. Potable water may
be available in Redstone.
Treatment using conventional application methods, such as spraying from truck, all terrain
vehicle or back pack mounted equipment is acceptable, given the limitations of access and
reclaimed lands. Aerial application is not permissible.
Application shall NOT occur within six (6) hours of predicted significant rain or snow fall.
Application shall not occur if wind speeds at the application area exceed fifteen (15) miles per
hour. CONTRACTOR must provide a wind speed measurement device, and maintain it in an
operating condition throughout the duration of the Project.
CONTRACTOR shall keep thorough and accurate records throughout the duration of the
project. Records shall indicate material applied, dilution factor, application rate per acre,
ambient air temperature (at 9:00 a.m., noon and 3:00 p.m.) and wind speed (at 9:00 a.m., noon,
3:00 and 5:00 p.m.).
CONTRACTOR shall conform to all applicable environmental and safety standards given
application methods, duration and products. CONTRACTOR shall not clean and dispose of
unused or remnant materials in a manner which is deemed to be deleterious to environmental
resources of the area. Failure to conform to these specifications shall result in immediate
suspension of contract.
Because the infested areas are adjacent to public use areas, CONTRACTOR shall post three
(3) signs at the Project Area in locations specified by Project Manager. The signs will be
posted five (5) days in advance of treatment. PROJECT MANAGER will remove the signs '
following completion of the Project. The signs shall include the following information:
Notice of intent to apply weed control chemicals;
Warning not to enter area one day prior to, and one day after planned application date;
