June 21, 2012 C- 1981 - 028 /Keenesburg Strip Mine JLE <br />4.05.13; Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />Sediment Pond 2 was dry and the side slopes appeared stable and vegetated. <br />The Dugout Pond was dry and the side slopes appeared stable and vegetated. <br />The Division inspected the following ground water monitoring wells; AMW -1, SMW -2, AMW -2 and FPW -1. <br />Each of the casings was marked with a metal T -post except of AMW -2 and the tops of the casing were painted. <br />According to Mr. MacDonald, this quarter's water samples will be taken near the end of the month. <br />ROADS — Rule 4.03; Construction 4.03.1(3)14.03.2(3); Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4); Surfacing and <br />Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6); Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br />The road from the shop facilities to Sediment Pond 2 and the B Pit was observed during the inspection. Also, the <br />road from Pit B south of reclamation parcel 25 toward topsand piles A -1 and B -1 were observed. The roads were <br />graded and maintained and the roadside ditches were in good shape. <br />REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15; Vegetative Cover; Timing: <br />Areas 31, 30, 29, and 23 were walked. Area 31 contained significantly more Cheatgrass than the parcels treated <br />with the pre- emergent herbicide. Other than that, no significant weed patched, rills or gullies were observed. The <br />desired vegetation appears to be developing well in all of the three reclamation parcels. <br />Area 25 was also observed. The eastern end of the parcel has significantly better grass establishment. The <br />western half is primarily vegetated by Kochia. <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br />The mine shop and yard were observed and no problems were noted <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02: <br />The entrance sign was in good shape and included the necessary information. The permit boundary is marked <br />with long white poles <br />TOPSOIL — Rule 4.06 <br />Removal 4.06.2, Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; Redistribution 4.06.4: <br />Topsand pile A -3, A -1 and B -1 was stable and vegetated. <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />
