MID-CONTINENT RESOURCES
P.O. Box 1298
Glenwood Springs, CO 81602
Anthony J. Waldron
Division of Minerals and Geologyj
1313 Sherman St.
Room 215
Denver, CO 80203 JAN 2 41993
January 14 1993
RE: Technical Revision Requests #19 and #21. Permit C-81-017.
Dear Mr. Waldron:
Mid-Continent Resources submitted requests for technical revisions (#19 and #21) in
response to the mid-term review of permit by the Division. The mid-term review, and
the response by Mid-Continent, were prepared under the assumption that mining
operations at the Coal Basin mine site would continue.
Both revision requests were found by the Division to be complete. However, the
adequacy review of these revisions was deferred by the Division, with the concurrence
of Mid-Continent, until purchase of the mine and transfer of the permit to a new mine
operator allowed for resumption of mining operations. This would allow the new mine
operator an opportunity to respond to issues relating to future operation of the mine.
However, as negotiations for sale of the mina faded, and operations have not resumed,
the board has revoked the permit.
In that the permit has been revoked, it seems inappropriate to go forward with review
and approval of these revisions. As a means to resolve the status of these revision
requests, I wish by this letter to withdraw them.
Yours truly,
Diane Delaney
Mid-Continent Resources
