personnel.
Compliance Testing, Preparation of DMRs
The Environmental Department is responsible for all sampling,
preparation and submission of reports required by the Mined Land
Reclamation Division and the Colorado Department of Health.
Maintenance Procedures 016
Technical Revision #11 added the following language to the approved
permit:
" The ponds at Discharge Point 016 are cleaned,
as necessary, when the sediment load reaches
60% of capacity. Inflow to the ponds is
monitored for flow (sampling weekly) and TSS
(sampling twice monthly) in order to calculate
sediment load to determine when cleaning is
necessary (See Appendix II-B-7 Att. 4) . Access
is maintained to the ponds at Discharge Point
016 to allow cleaning during winter. "
Mid-Continent requests a slight language change to clarify that the
monitoring of inflow will be done at those times when the ponds are
receiving mine discharge for a prolonged period of time. Cleaning
will be done as necessary, and winter access will be maintained.
At some future time, we may request permission to discontinue
maintenance of winter access to 016, but that would be the subject
of a specific amendment request.
" The ponds at Discharge Point 016 are cleaned,
as necessary, when the sediment load reaches
60% of capacity. If mine drainage is routed
to the ponds for a prolonged period of time,
then inflow to the ponds will be monitored for
flow (sampling weekly) and TSS (sampling twice
monthly) in order to calculate sediment load
to determine when cleaning is necessary (See
Appendix II-B-7 Att. 4) . Access is maintained
to the ponds at Discharge Point 016 to allow
cleaning during winter. "
Yours truly,
Diane Delaney
Mid-Continent Res.
8
