The contract specifies that the
partnership will accomplish certain demolition tasks at the mine
site. These tasks include structural demolition, structural
removal and removal of scrap materials. The contract requires that
these activities be coordinated with the on-going reclamation
activities at the Coal Basin Mine.
The State of Colorado is concerned that little work has been
accomplished during the current construction season. To the best
of our knowledge, only a nominal crew is currently present at the
site, and removal/demolition activities are occurring slowly.
The contract at Section II Paragraph L requires that the
partnership use reasonable efforts to coordinate the salvage
operations with the reclamation activities undertaken by the State.
The State contemplates reclamation of Mine 3 and Mine 4 , as well as
the associated haul roads, during the summer of 1994 . Further, we
anticipate initiating reclamation at Mines 1 and 2 as soon as the
snow melts from these sites in the late spring of 1995 .
In order that reclamation of the mine site may proceed as
scheduled, it will be necessary for the partnership to immediately
undertake an expedited salvage operation at these areas.
