This should serve to update Mike on the
reclamation schedule for DNR purposes, and will hopefully prepare
Dave for upcoming bid documents.
The first Invitation to Bid is being published today. A pre-bid
meeting will be held on September 12 . Work is scheduled to begin
on October 11 . The Sutey Refuse Disposal Area will be graded as
needed, topsoiled and revegetated. A diversion ditch will be built
around the base of the pile, and a down drain on the south side of
the pile will be constructed. Also, about 8 acres at the Number 5
Mine will be revegetated. Maintenance necessary to get the site
through next snowmelt will also be done this fall as part of the
contract to be awarded in September.
In 1995 I am hopeful that the following mine facilities can be
reclaimed:
- Post law areas of the Old Refuse Area
- Rock Tunnel Waste Disposal Area
- Mines 1,2,3
- Roads G (to #5 Mine)
F (to #3 Mine)
E (Rock Tunnel to roads G,F intersection)
D (Junction of main haul road to #2, 3 Mines)
Light access roads at Mines 2 , 3 ,5
All of this reclamation activity depends on the money being
available through the liquidation plan.
During the coming months, I will be walking the roads to be
reclaimed and staking them at 200 feet intervals. I am drafting
reclamation criteria for the road networks based on the 200 feet
intervals. Other features and requirements, such as stream channel
reconstruction, amount of outslope cut and inslope fill, and
culvert locations are noted individually. In this manner I am
developing the segment by segment reclamation plan which we
promised to the Forest Service and OSM last February. This
