Page 7
These structures should be buried in place. Otherwise, they could be moved a
short distance, from the Sutey pile to the embankment behind the wash plant,
where the approved reclamation plan specifies that rubblized concrete materials
from the area will be placed. These footings are heavy (estimated 2 tons each)
and cumbersome. They cannot be excavated and transported to the Mines 1, 3
or 4 entries without considerable effort and expense.
Greg Lewicki's comment:
The expense of using a loader and trucks to do this compared to the net
gain in backfill at the portal areas of only a few cubic yards is not practical.
Also, DMG is vague about what actually will be required for this task, yet a
lump sum bid is requested. This only leads to inflated bid prices.
The contractor's risk is further increased by the broad, open-ended maintenance
requirement.
DMG Bid Document
Maintenance
The CONTRACTOR shall maintain the areas until all work on the entire contract
has been completed and accepted. Maintenance will consist of the repair of
areas damaged by erosion, wind, fire or other causes. Such areas shall be
repaired to reestablish the condition and grade of seedbed and shall be
refertilized, reseeded, remulched and/or reestablished as directed by the
PROJECT MANAGER.
Page 18
Other open-ended contingencies, including equipment rental provisions, mean
further increase in the price quoted.
DMG Bid Document
TASK 5 EQUIPMENT RENTAL
A backhoeAoader may be used to accomplish miscellaneous site maintenance
tasks as directed by the PROJECT MANAGER. This work may include the
partial dredging of sediment ponds or clean out of existing diversion ditches.
Any excavated materials resulting from pond or ditch maintenace would be
loaded into a dump truck, and hauled to the Rock Tunnel Waste Rock Dump for
disposal.
Any additional `dozer, backhoeAoader or truck work required will be covered
under this task....Bid hourly rate shall reflect the CONTRACTORS estimate for
equipment and personnel costs per hour to complete the task....All of the hours
outlined in Item 5 are NOT guaranteed.
Page 9
Greg Lewicki's comment:
MCR Objections/DMG Bid
Page 16
