Mid-Continent Resources Mine#5
A Ditch (Ditch Segment B) will extend around the outer perimeter of the yard
area. It will continue from Ditch Segment A, which is upslope to the west of
Segment B, and continue to Segment C, which is downslope, to the east and
flows to the sediment pond.
Sector 3-B
Flows from the ravine will be directed toward Ditch Segment C. The slope of the
yard area on either side of the current ditch (Ditch Segment D) will be moderated
to a gently rolling dip.
It is not anticipated that fill material will be placed against the base of the hillside
in this area.
Sector 3-C
Topsoil will be removed from the topsoil stockpile and spread on the adjacent
graded areas. The sediment pond will remain, with flows routed through Ditch
Segment C to the pond.
Material excavated from the turn-of-the-century spoil pile will be transported to
the fill at the base of the hill (Sector 3A).
A topsoil borrow area will be designated from the meadowland east of the
graded area. When topsoiling has been completed, the borrow area will be
graded and seeded.
On completion of grading, the roadway extending around the pond, to the lower
portion of the graded area, will be ripped. This area will be seeded in the fall.
Topsoil/Seeding
Topsoil cover will be spread over graded areas to a depth of 6", unless the soil in any
reclaimed area seems suitable as a growth medium, in which case it will be ripped.
Topsoiled areas will be tracked over with the dozer to roughen the surface.
The graded areas, fill slopes and topsoil areas will be seeded and mulched.
Sediment ponds and ditches will be retained until vegetation is well established.
5
07/14/93
