F-L Brenneman Primary Bulkhead
Construction Certification Report
Dear Mr . Sorenson:
This letter report is to provide the certification that
construction of the F-Level Brenneman Primary Bulkhead meets or
exceeds design criteria. Certification is required in the April
15, 1993 DMG adequacy concern letter (Item 4) and was committed to
by SGC.
The construction stages requiring certification are listed below.
a) Bulkhead location preparation (scaling and washing) .
The bulkhead site was scaled clean of loose material . It was
then sand blasted to remove any coating that may have been
present, washed down and vacuumed clean of water , sand and
rock residue. This stage of site preparation was adequate to
maximize the potential for bond strength between the rock and
concrete bulkhead. This stage of site preparation was also
inspected by John F. Abel , Jr . , P .E . (see attached letter
report) before pouring.
b) Laying of by-pass or diversion pipe.
Not applicable to this bulkhead.
c) Construction of concrete forms and erection of re-bar cages.
The forms were constructed of vertical 8" x 8" S4S posts and
horizontal 2" x 12" and 2" x 6" S4S lagging. Bracing
consisted of angle iron and pipe anchored to the ribs, sill
and back of the drift and was adequate to prevent movement
during filling of the forms.
