BOX 948 • GLENWOOD SPRINGS, COLORADO 81601 <br />August 22, 1997 <br />At the request of Mid - Continent Resources, Inc., the White <br />River National Forest Association has formed a committee to develop and <br />implement a feasibility study with a view to making recommendations to the <br />Forest Service as to a means whereby greater public access can be provided <br />in Coal Basin as part of the post- mining use program. <br />I understand the Mined Land Reclamation Board and members of <br />your staff plan to visit Coal Basin on August 28. <br />Attached is a Memorandum prepared by Robert Delaney on behalf <br />of Mid - Continent Resources, Inc., and submitted to the WRNFA for <br />consideration in their feasibility study. <br />While the WRNFA has not acted upon the Memorandum, it would be <br />appreciated if the proposal could be taken into consideration by the <br />Board, and your staff on the August 28 visit. <br />Copy of the material goes to District Ranger, Kevin Riordan. <br />We will be in contact with him in the near future about the matter. <br />Enclosures <br />Mr. Steven Renner <br />Sincerely, <br />WHITE RIVER NATIONAL FOREST <br />ASSOCIATION <br />dedicated to the preservation and proper utilization of our national forests <br />
