DRAWER 790 FAX <br />818 COLORADO AVENUE Area Code 303 <br />GLENWOOD SPRINGS, COLORADO 81602 945 -2303 <br />March 3, 1998 <br />Re: Coal Basin Land Use, Your File 2350/1920 <br />6 e y - / C /V l. l� <br />This letter is written in response to solicitation for <br />public comment dated February 13, 1998 and also to changes that <br />have recently occurred affecting the program for Forest Service <br />acquisition of the remainder of the Preparation Plant tract in <br />Coal Basin. <br />For reasons outlined below, we wish to urge retention <br />of the provisions of the 1984 Forest Plan which classified the <br />north facing slopes of Coal Basin as "T1 ". <br />Further, we wish to urge the Forest Service to scope <br />and carry out an intensive planning program looking to approval <br />of a cooperative agreement between the Forest Service and an <br />"LLC ", described below, for carefully planned and well regulated <br />recreational uses financially supported by user fees and private <br />contributions in a manner that addresses environmental concerns <br />and federal budgetary constraints. <br />
