TASK 1 MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION
Measurement and Payment
TASK 2 DEMOLITION
This task shall comply with specification 1.0, Mobilization/Demobilization, attached. The cost of
Mobilization and demobilization shall include such items as providing security to ensure
pedestrian and vehicular traffic are well away from the work area should any foundations be
blasted, obtaining appropriate insurance for blasting, should any be done, locking of the mine gate
during the life of the project, and maintenance of a hazard -free work place.
There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a lump sum
bid under Item 1 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs for Mobilization and
Demobilization. Payment shall be made as described in specification 1.0,
Mobilization/Demobilization, attached.
NOTE: Task 2 was replaced by amendment Number 1 (October 7, 1997). The amended
Task 2, Demolition, is included here.
For purposes of the demolition task, all concrete structures located within the area depicted on
Map 3, project area, are subject to the requirements of this task, unless otherwise specified.
There are two overall objectives of the demolition task. The first is to demolish designated
concrete and block wall building remnants and foundations, as well as conveyor foundations,
asphaltic pads and similar materials which are located within the work areas. The second
objective is to remove the rubble produced by the demolition process to designated disposal sites.
The Mid - Continent Resources Mining Permit application estimates that 50,000 cubic yards of
concrete and block wall materials are present within the project area. Note, however, that this
figure is an estimation only. and that only a portion of the materials within the project area will be
demolished. Contractors are encouraged to perform independent verification measurements in
order to ascertain the true volume of materials within the project area. Past demolition
experience at Coal Basin indicates that substantial quantities of rebar are present within most
concrete structures.
The project area encompasses the former location of a wash plant, thermal drier facility, offices,
parking areas, incidental buildings, conveyor belt route, and various other structures. All concrete
materials, asphaltic material and block wall materials located within the project area, outside of
the designated disposal areas, must be demolished and disposed of. Demolition must be
accomplished to a depth of at least three feet (3') below ground surface, as measured immediately
6
