If a 15 % error is injected into all calculations ie: potentially available soil is 15% less than
estimated by Resources (85,340 yd amount of topsoil used in 1995 by the Division is 15%
higher than estimated (50,600 yd and the total volume still needed is 15% greater than currently
estimated (34,486 yd sufficient topsoil is still available to accomplish the remaining tasks.
Based upon the surveys accomplished by Resources and provided to the Division in 1991, it is
apparent that sufficient topsoil remains in the Sutey and Overland Conveyor topsoil stockpiles to
accomplish topsoil application at the Huntsman Project area, without realizing a shortfall at the
privately held properties requiring topsoil application as part of the reclamation process.
Therefore, the Division requests that you recommend approval of the use of this topsoil in order
that the Huntsman Project may be accomplished in 1998.
c: \sgr \hntmnsol.wpd
cc: Michael Long
David Bucknam
Cheryl Linden
