GREG LEWICKI
May 21, 1998
Steve Renner
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street 2nd Floor
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Steve:
TEL : 1- 303 - 629 - 9335 Maw 22 , 98 20:35 No _ 001
Greg Lewicki And Associates
Some items which we still need to resolve are listed below:
1645 ("surf Plate, Suite 309 Plioae. /Fax: (303) 629 -9335
Deaver, CO USA 80202 E -Mail: ltwiekiaenvisionet.det
Re : MCR Coal Basin Reclamation
1 want to thank you and Jim McCardle for visiting with me at the minesite. It was a
productive meeting and 1 think we arc basically in agreement with the reclamation
work on the private lands.
1) the final slopes of the approximate 2 acre area for rubble disposal. As we discussed,
Mr. Delaney would like to see as much flat area as possible in this area, provided that
the costs of doing so are within reason. I have enclosed a sketch of what l feel is the
current plan and a sketch of what is desirable to the landowners. Please let me know of
the approximate costs for making this change and we will then decide what to do.
2) We will try to determine the status of the existing 10 inch water line that exists
under Road A from the rock tunnel portal. If this can be used to handle the water from
the portal, the ditch which is planned for this area (700' long) may not he needed. We
realize that this discharge is still regulated by CDOH and we will likely need their
approval for the change. It would he used as a source of water in the lower ponds on
the property.
3) We are in agreement as to the final work on the upper sediment ponds - taking out
the discharge pipes and installing a rock -lined spillway with no further work. We
would like to see this work done before any further road reclamation is undertaken. If
you can find out if the (:1X)11 will allow this plan for the ponds, let me know. As we
discussed, many of the ponds on the lower property should remain at the request of the
landowners and the principal spillway pipes should remain on these ponds. 1 agree that
the box culvert to the Sutey ponds should be replaced with a low water crossing.
