a wad
Dan- If you could get up to Coal Basin on Tuesdthat would be great. Please look at these three
(+)things:
- 001 pond inlet ditch. It is best to walk this ditch from the 001 pond upstream. It was partially
clogged yesterday, but I shoveled it out. You may want to take a shovel with you.
- Sutey perimeter ditch - I look at this ditch (at the box culvert where the ditch passes under the
Sutey access road), and just past the culvert where the ditch turns northerly toward the Sutey
topsoil stockpile. There is a landslide at that bend that could (but hasn't yet)blocked the ditch.
- The coal stockpiles above and below the main road (Road A) , about '/2 mile past the gate. The
upper pile slipped last year, but we fixed it. Just want to see if it is still standing. If it has failed,
we just need to be sure that the drainage system at the edge of the road is functional. This ditch
flows across Road A to the Bus garage ponds.
- I usually drive to the Lamphouse just because.
- Take a look at the stream diversion where it is confluent with coal creek to see if the road is in
danger of failure. You may want to walk the stream bank just to see what's what.
- You may want to check the pond at the top of the Old Refuse Pile. If it is clogged or blocked,
call Len Wardlaw(963-2581). Mid-Continent still has a npdes permit here. If they give you
grief, or won't help out without a hassel, call Mike Frick.
Y /l2'X (G logS- Sx T eK )
Gate combo is 1098 (_
We have Mike Frick on retainer. A copy of the maintenance contract is attached. If you have an
emergency, call him at 970-858-4009; 970-379-1004 (cell). I let him know that you may call.
If small stuff is wrong, see if you can clear them with a shovel. If maintenance stuff is required,
and can wait, go ahead and wait until I get back. If a stream or ditch is blocked, and some
amount of damage is impending, or if access is blocked to further up the basin, go ahead and call
Mike Frick.
I will be at OSM, Pittsburgh 412-937-2815 (8 am to 3 pm eastern time)
Hotel: 412-922-7070
