Chapter II
quick growing grass mixture. This will begin in 1993 and proceed
according to a schedule agreed upon between MLRD and the operator.
Road cuts will be seeded and mulched at those places where soil is
present, and the slope of the cut is not prohibitive to the
establishement of vegetation. Seeding will be done between
September 15 and October 15, 1992.
The objective is to establish quick vegetative growth wherever
possible to aid in sediment control .
The seed mix to be used for the roads:
Seed Lbs/Acre
Creeping red fescue 1
Manchar brom 2
Slender Wheatgrass 7
Western Wheatgrass 5
Total per acre 15
Additional sediment control methods will be used to minimize
erosion to the extent possible. These include silt fencing,
berming, straw bale check dams, depressions and b.a.t. ponds.
Such methods will be employed in areas where conditions preclude
establishment of vegetative cover along road cuts, and will be used
as dictated by natural conditions, so that the sediment control
method utilized is the most feasible and practicable.
19(d) Revised 2/92
