e dcwncutting was n the -71- c,a^ 4 the
Culvert D-3 outfall .
11 . Several hundred feet downslope form the D-3 outfall , the drainage flow
path coalesces with flow from an area of fill erosion in the vicinity of
Sta. 47+00. This combined flow, designated Drainage B-5 on the Road A+B
Drainage Map, washed out a segment of a reclaimed pilot road and caused
severe gully erosion between the pilot road and Road B, at approximate
Sta. 30+00, on Road B. Between the washed out pilot road and Road B, a
distaice of approximately 100 feet, a bowl shaped erosional feature
approximately 40 feet long, 30 feet wide and 15 to 20 feet deep has
developed. Large rock, logs , culvert remnants and other debris has been
deposited in this location.
Road B
12. Active downcutting was noted in a 10 to 15 foot segment of the Culvert
B-3 outfall channel .
Road G
13. The outlet end of Culvert G-17 has rusted and some leakage is occurring
approximately 5 feet in from the outlet.
14. The channel below culvert G-15 outfall is eroded intermittently from 1 to
4 feet deep for several hundred feet to the base of the steep hillslope
below.
15. The 20 foot outfall section of Culvert G-14 has been riprapped and
appears stable, however a gully up to 6 feet deep extends down the
hillslope for approximately 50 feet below the riprap section.
16. At the culvert G-13 outfall , headward erosion has cut several feet back
into the road embankment and measures need to be taken to prevent further
erosion.
17. The Culvert G-12 inlet was 1 /2 full of sediment and requires cleanout.
18. At the 84" Culvert G-10, 1989 flooding and subsequent erosion has reduced
the road width to approximately 15 feet. The culvert will probably need
to be replaced with a low water crossing of some type or the road segment
will need to be reconstructed and upgraded , depending on the intended
future use of the road.
19 . At the Culvert G-8 inlet, a seeo is causing mud to ooze into the culvert,
which is partially blocked . The seelp should be excavated and filled in
with rock.
-2-
