Section 10 - 50 + 00
Ditch RD-2 outfall is located 20 yards below first unnumbered culvert.
Unnumbered culvert was apparently installed to mitigate erosion below
RD-2 outfall . Road gradient would allow for construction of a rolling
dip in vicinity of 54 + 00, at end of guard rail below RD-2.
Between 54 + 00 and 50 + 00, road was constructed without significant
earthwork. At 50 + 00, there is a second unnamed 24" culvert. Discharge
channel below outlet makes an abrupt right angle turn. Outfall channel
should be straightened out to alleviate recurring maintenance need.
Reseed disturbance on completion of work.
Section 11 - 36 + 00
Second unnumbered culvert to ditch outfall RD-1 ( 1 ,400 feet) . Major
portion of this segment is in competent rock cut
( igneous dike 43 + 50 - 45 + 00) . Road width averages 25 feet.
Some erosion on fill slope between sta. 40 + 00 and RD-1 . Fill crest
reduction and revegetation recommended. Recommend silt fence on gentle,
vegetated slope 40-50 feet below RD-1 outfall . Series of water bars may
be warranted but should be outfall protected to avoid excessive erosion
of steep down slopes and cut slopes of road below.
Section 12 - 34 + 00
200 foot segment of road from RD-1 around switchback curve. Road width
at switchback is approximately 70 feet. Width should be reduced and
surface graded to eliminate rills on inside portion of road surface at
switchback. Recommend rolling dip below switchback at approximately 34 +
00. Rip and revegetate unneeded road width.
Section 13 - 10 + 00
2,400 foot segment of road in cut and fill from 34 + 00 to Culvert C-3 .
Water bars recommended . Where possible, water bars should be tied in
with outfalls from water bars on road segment above RD-1 switchback. Due
to steep fill slope, some type of outfall protection will probably be
warranted. Recommend fill slope crest reduction/revegetation. Also silt
fencing along base of fill .
Where eater bars will discharge into defined channels or rocked gullies ,
check dams to reduce flow velocities would be recommended. One or more
rolling dips may be appropriate along this segment.
Culvert C-3 has rusted out and will need to be replaced with a new
culvert or a low water crossing.
Section 14 - 5 + 50
C-3 to C-2 (South Fork Dutch Creek)
Possibly recontour road to avoid any flow concentration. leave C-2
culvert in place .
/ern 7436F
-7-
