TABLE II-B-1 COAL BASIN TUNNEL PROJECT RECLAMATION SCHEDULE OF ROADS AND ASSOCIATED WORK AREAS SUMMER 1979 Face Up FALL 1979 Reclamation of face-up areas FALL 1980 Tunnel drilling starts FALL 1985 Tunnel completed to No . 1 Mine 1986 Tunnel completed to No . 2 Mine-- Complete tunnel to outside on westside of Huntsman' s Ridge* 1985 - 87 Construction of conveyors, drainage systems , power systems, bins, shops, offices and bathhouse facilities . Revegetation of mine portals and associated roads , No . 1 and No . 2 Mines ; the actual work at the portals will begin with the removal of nonessential buildings and equipment . The ventilation fans , power lines and associated equipment and shelter required to maintain this equipment will remain. The areas of the mine portals not in use will be reshaped, scarified , soil amendments added, and grass, shrubs , and trees planted in the fall . (i. e. , the fall has proven by experiment to be best time to plant . ) The roads will be reduced from Haul Roads to Light Use Road classifi- cation. (See November 26, 1979 Coal Basin Road Drainage report. The present width of 50 ' to 60 ' would be reduced to 20 ' to 30 ' . The outside ditch will be brought out into the road and the cut slope allowed to slough. Grading material from the road will be allowed to collect on the outside as a permanent berm in areas not designated for snow removal . These areas and the cut slopes will then receive intensified revegetation efforts -- i . e. , heavier mulch and seed mixtures . FALL 1988 Cuts and berms if stabilized will be planted with shrubs and trees . 1986 - 87 The tunnel will be extended laterally (on the strike) from No . 1 Mine to No . 3 and No . 5 Mines . 1987 - 88 As the coal and equipment transportation systems are completed, the portals and roads at No . 3 and No . 5 Mines will be partially revegetated . *Actual construction time will depend on mining conditions encountered . 43
