The first phase of the gas well drilling program is to
drill two holes into the gob areas of the 101 and 102 longwall
panels as indicated on the map at Enclosure 3 to release the gas
that is constantly building up in those areas. The second phase
will be to drill wells into other gob areas, such as in to the
103 panel gob area, and to test the results of drilling into the
unmined coal to determine the effectiveness of draining off the
gas before the coal is mined. The drilling program for the first
two gas wells is attached as Enclosure 3. These holes will have
a production casing size of 9 5/8" and when hooked up to a surface
suction pump should greatly improve the degassification of the
underground mine workings.
