The findings document of 1984 includes stipulation No. 3 to the
surface water monitoring program. This stipulation has been satisfied and is
no longer in effect.
VI. Ground Water Hydrology - Rules 2 .04.5 , 2.04.7 , 2.05.3 (4 ), 2.05.6(3)
and 4.05
No changes are required to this section of the findings document except for
the monitoring program which has been covered in the previous section.
VII. Probable Hydrologic Consequences of Mining in Cumulative Hydrologic
mpact Study - Rules an c
This section was written for the worst case projected disturbance by coal
mining on the Roaring Fork Basin. The Garfield Energy-Sunlight Mine has
closed since the original writing of these findings and never affected the
proposed worst case acreage. The Snowmass Coal North Thompson Creek Mines
have also closed since the original writing of the findings and the projected
worst case life of mine area was never disturbed. This area was reclaimed
during the previous permit term. A treatment facility has been installed at
the North Thompson Creek Mine for drainage from the No. 1 mine portals. This
discharge has a high iron content. Effluent limitations imposed on discharge
into the North Thompson Creek are being met, and no effect above that
predicted in the original Cumulative Hydrologic Impact Study for the Roaring
Fork Basin is occurring. The life of mine area projected for the Coal Basin
Mines has been increased during the past permit term from the originally
projected 10,248 acres to the present 11 , 386 acres. Of this area 333 acres
are actually disturbed by surface facilities instead of the 432 acres
originally stated.
