Mr. Jim Herron February 20, 1984 Page 2
See sheets 3, 4, 5 and 6 of 9, Geo-Hydro Report, enclosed.
PHASE I (May 1984) 1200' x 30' (approximately 50% of this area is
disturbed, and another 100' crossing Coal Creek) . This leaves 500'
x 30, x 1.5' = 833 cu. yds. (0.3 ac)
Totals 26225 cu. yds. (10.81 ac)
See also Sheet 9 of 9, Geo-Hydro Report, Items 1.0 Topsoil and 6.0
Reclamation. The topsoil storage area is shown on Sheet 6 of 9.
C. REVEGETATION
Where limits of the 5-year waste pile correspond to the limits
of the 47-year pile as shown on Sheet 8, Fig. A, reclamation will
begin. Twelve to 18 inches of topsoil will be spread over the refuse
(2 to 1 slope) and seeded with the 8000 ft mix (copy enclosed) .
Note: At the actual time of reclamation the seed list will be pre-
sented to MLR for any adjustments. Approximately one ton of hay
mulch will be used per acre.
The seed will be broadcast and the mulch will be applied by hand
in the fall (October) following completion of the corresponding areas
or at the cessation of mining.
D. REVEGETATION SUCCESS CRITERIA
As in MLR letter from Jim Herron October 12, 1982, "The Division
suggests that the woody plant density standards be set at 100 trees
per acre and 500 shrubs per acre for each of the three major vegeta-
tion types. The herbaceous cover and production standards would then
be the amount measured in the surrounding vegetation types."
This will be the vegetation success standard for the new refuse
pile.
4. LEGAL RIGHT TO ENTER
The entire five-year pile is on Mid-Continent Resources private
property. A portion of the 47-year pile (28%) is on USFS land. A special
-use permit will be applied for at the end of our present permit (1988) .
