Box 158
Carbondale, Colorado 81623
Re: Technical Revision - Sediment Ponds for Mine No. 2 Bin Pad
File No. C-107-81
Dear Mr. Bowman:
Enclosed is the form approving the above referenced Technical Revision and a
Notice of Proposed Decision. You must publish the enclosed Notice of Proposed
Decision in a newspaper of local circulation once. If there are no public
comments received by the Division within ten days of the publication, you may
proceed with construction of the sediment ponds.
As I discussed with you, the sediment ponds must be certified by a registered
professional engineer immediately following construction. If the dimensions
of the ponds are changed during construction, three copies of the as-built
designs must be submitted with the certification. It is understood that you
will be welding gate valves on the orifice holes of the principal spillway to
better control the release of water. Designs for these valves are not
necessary. Also, as we discussed, this approval includes approval to
stockpile topsoil on the outslope of the pond embankment as long as no topsoil
is placed near the spillway outlets.
If you have any questions, please call.
Sincerely '
i Herron
Reclamation Specialist
JH/ph
Enclosure
Doc.
