Activity by SGC
has not increased flow quantity or decreased flow
quality. All conceivable impacts to the quality of
this water by SGC has been mitigated by water
treatment.
- The quality of water entering this section of tunnel
is indicative of natural background water quality
flowing in the near-surface fracture system and
faults. Treatment of this water to standards set
by other than consideration of natural conditions
represents an overcorrection of the natural
hydrologic balance.
e) Commitment to treatment of tunnel effluent that continues
after bulkhead placement.
SGC is currently committed through its CDPS/NPDES permit
to treat flows from the American Tunnel and has not been
released from this commitment. SGC will continue to
follow the conditions of that CDPS/NPDES permit.
2. Potential for Emergence of Mine Pool Water After Bulkhead
Installation
In order to address the concerns of the Division that
significant near-term discharges to surface of water passing
through the Sunnyside Hine can be identified, .this issue will
be answered in two parts.
