Small Area Exemptions - Sediment Control Measures
Dear Mr. Mathews:
Mid-Continent Resources has requested approval of small area
exemptions for several areas at the Coal►Basin Mine site. In
addition, various measures have been taken to provide sediment
control for these areas.
The Division, in reviewing this request for technical revision,
made various comments, in response to which Mid-Continent proposes
to amend our original submittal , and has taken additional or
alternative measures for sediment control.
The areas involved are:l
- Mine No. 3 fan area at southwest end of pad.
- Outslope at rock tunnel fill next to the south fork of
Dutch Cree .
- Outer slopes of southeast end of the berm behind the
district office.
- South portal at No. 1 Mine.
- Topsoil pile at 016 pond.
1 These areas were identified in NoV C-90-052, which also
required completion of repairs to the sediment control
system for the Sutey topsoil piles. These repairs were
completed. In addition, the "lumber storage area" near
the Road C crossing was identified as an area requiring
a small area exemption. Mid-Continent did not include
this area in the request, however, because the lumber has
been removed, and the area is otherwise undisturbed. We
did seed and mulch the after removing the lumber.
