SPECIAL CONDITIONS Coal Basin Mine 4 Revegetation Project Permit No. C-81-017 PKA-8-400 PROJECT LOCATION The project is located four miles west of Redstone in Pitkin County, Colorado. The mine is accessed via a paved service road. Roads on the mine property are improved dirt (Map 1, General Location Map). WORK SUMMARY The project will be conducted on a mine site previously permitted by the State of Colorado, Division of Minerals and Geology(Map 3, Coal Basin Mine Map). The site was active as an underground i mining operation from 1953 until 1991. The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board revoked the mining permit and forfeited the reclamation bond. The disturbances created as a result of activities at the site since August 3, 1977 are the subject of the reclamation activities addressed in this and subsequent Invitation to Bid documents. The project work will include rOvegetating steep slope areas at and near Mine 4. This will be accomplished by collecting native seed from nearby areas, p;eparing the ground surface at selected sloes of the project area, seeding and riaulching of the steep slopes identified for reve'getation, and hydraulic application of a bonded fiber matrix on selected slopes of the project area. Trees and shrubs mad be planted in the vicinity of the project area. PRE-BID MEETING AND SITE,SHOWING A mandatory pre-bid meeting and site showing will begin at the Coke Ovens at the south turnoff to Redstone on State Highway 133 (Map 2, Pre-Bid Mec:.ing Location). This mandatory meeting will begin on July 9. 1997 at 10:30 a.m. The Pre-Bid Meeting is for the purpose of showing prospective bidders the work site and vicinity. Bidders are advised to be prompt. A sign-in sheet will be available at the Pre-Bid meeting for firms to register their attendance. It is the bidder's responsibility to make certain their attendance is recorded on the sign-in sheet. Failure to sign-in or to attend the entire meeting will be cause for rejection of a bid. 1
