MID-CONTINENT RESOURCES, INC.
PRODUCERS OF THE FAMOUS COAL BASIN COKING COAL
BOX 158
CARBONDALE, COLORADO 81623
MID-CONTINENT RESOURCES INC TELEPHONE
245 PLAINFIELD ROAD-SUITE 220 (303)963-2581
WILLOWBROOK ILLINOIS 60521 TWX
January 7, 1985 9109296694
TLX
45-0724
Mr. Jim Herron
Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Bldg.
1313 Sherman St.
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Stipulation No. 7 Preparation Plant Backfilling and Grading Plan.
File No. C-017-81
Dear Jim,
Enclosed are four copies of the new cross-sections and the key maps. You
can see by the cross-sections that the actual cut and fill to attain A.O.C.
is minimal, with the exception of Cross-Section D-D which is discussed in
the B $ G plan of the tunnel to wash plant (glory hole) plan. If coal
refuse is required to accomplish A.O.C. , more than enough is available
from the new refuse pile (refuse was deposited there starting 1/4/85) . In
addressing Rule 4.10 the following items are mentioned:
1. The refuse would be hauled by presently approved methods: i.e. ,
truck or reversing the present refuse belt.
2. The refuse is nontoxic as shown by previous analysis. It is also
not prone to spontaneous combustion. The refuse would be
deposited and compacted first, then rubble and available "C"
horizon material placed and compacted, then the topsoil placed
last.
All construction would be under the direct supervision of a registered
engineer or his appointed and approved by MLR assistant.
All proper hydrologic measures would be taken so that during construction
no additional sediment load would be produced.
The backfilling and grading will follow the time schedule as outlined in
our present Permit No. C-017-81.
Please contact me if you have any questions about this matter.
Sincerely,
06"'p, u,
Environmental Coordinator
DWBowman:ms
Enclosures
