Warehouse Vicinity
The goal of this portion of the project is to reduce the outslope of Road A generally north of the
Warehouse Vicinity in order to achieve the overall target slope angle of 2H:1V. The exact location of the
outslope to be reduced will be identified in the field by the PROJECT MANAGER prior to initiating
operations.
In order to accomplish the grading goal, two separate grading tasks will be undertaken, reduction of
Road A, and borrow of material located near the southern perimeter of the Warehouse Vicinity.
Road A shall be sloped to the south at a cross sectional grade of five percent (5%). This will be
accomplished by cutting material from the base of Road A near its center and outside margins and
pushing it over the south side of the roadway to initiate slope reduction. Filling of the inside road
drainage ditch will be accomplished during this task as well. Road A cannot be reduced beyond a
twenty feet (20') minimum width.
Upon completion of the road reduction and grading, material which forms berms and hills on the south
side of the Warehouse Vicinity adjacent to Dutch Creek will be excavated to ground level and removed
to the base of the Road A outslope. The locations of the berms and hills to be removed to the Road A
outslope will be identified in the field by PROJECT MANAGER.
Throughout the filling of the Road A outslope, the fill shall be compacted every six feet (6') as measured
from the vertical, by sheeps foot roller.
All work areas, including the Conveyor Corridor, the bench remnants of Stockpiles M and B, the
Warehouse Vicinity, road remnants and the cut slopes formed during the back wall reduction at each
work area shall be ripped upon completion of grading operations. Ripping shall occur so that a
minimum eighteen inch (18") deep rip with a maximum spacing of thirty inches (30") between rips is
accomplished. Ripping shall occur parallel to the contour in all areas.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment for excavation and placement of backfill materials, grading
of the materials and bench remnants, ripping, culvert removal, filling of the Stockpile M tunnels, ripping
and spreading of the topsoil substitute at Stockpile M. Payment for the tasks to be completed under
Task 4 will be reflected under Item 4 on the Bid Schedule. This bid price will cover all costs for
excavation, placement, grading and compaction of fill materials, final grading of the conveyor corridor
and bench remnants and cut and fill area slopes, culvert removal, tunnel filling, ripping operations and
spreading of the Stockpile M topsoil substitute. Payment shall be as this task is completed and
approved by the PROJECT MANAGER
Task 5 Topsoil Stockpile Removal
A topsoil stockpile exists near the western margin of Stockpile B. The mining permit estimates that the
stockpile contains 8,300 cubic yards of topsoil. The stockpiled topsoil material will be removed from its
current location and placed in a temporary stockpile area to be designated by PROJECT MANAGER.
The anticipated location of the new stockpile is approximately 400 feet east of the Warehouse Vicinity.
After the topsoil is removed, the stockpile location will be ripped to a minimum depth of eighteen inches
(1811) on a minimum thirty inch (30") centers.
12
