3.0 DISCUSSION
The results of he survey, in terms of changes in elevation
9 ►
are presented in Tab a 1. This table presents the total
subsidence since the baseline survey performed in August 1981 as
well as the changes 'n elevations since the last survey in August
1983.
The locations o the subsidence monitoring points are shown
on Map MCR-84-03-01. This map illustrates the extent of
underground development entries and mined-out areas for
Mid-Continent Resources, Inc . ' s, Coal Basin Mines No . 1 , 2, 3 , 4
and 5. The amount of extraction since the August 1983 survey is
also illustrated.
Because of snow cover , it was impossible to locate subsidence
monitoring points MC and MC-9. Monitoring point MC-3 was buried
beneath a snow field in a topographic bowl at the base of a steep
escarpment. Monitoring point MC-9 was buried beneath a cornice of
snow along the crest of Huntsman Ridge.
The survey results indicated that monitoring points MC-2, -4 ,
-5 and -6, located above or adjacent to mined-out areas, continued
to subside. Monitori g point MC-8 , located above unmined coal
reserves, remained stable.
-2-
