PROJECT WORK DESCRIPTION +
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The goal of this project is to enhance the stability of the north facing slope of the Old Refuse Pile
by creating a less steep slope through cut and fill operations. Generally, slopes will be
excavated to achieve the desired slope angle. Much of the refuse excavated from the Old
Refuse Pile will be transported to a designated disposal area located at the base of the north
facing slope behind the former location of the Wash Plant. Some of the material will be used as
fill material at the Old Refuse Pile to help achieve the desired configuration. Upon completion of
cut, fill and disposal activities, the north slope of the Old Refuse Pile will be top soiled and
revegetated. Trees will be planted on the affected area. Silt fence may be erected at the base
of the pile to minimize sediment transport from the site. Map 3, Project Area, depicts the Old
Refuse Pile, the disposal facility, topsoil stockpile location and other features.
NOTE that maps, cross sections and figures will be distributed at the Pre-Bid Meeting.
NOTE that volumes distances and areas stated in this document are ESTIMATIONS ONLY.
CONTRACTORS are responsible for verifying all estimations prior to bid submittal.
WORK TASKS
The tasks included in this project are as follows:
Task 1: Mobilization and Demobilization
Task 2: Earth Work
Task 3: Topsoil Placement
Task 4: Revegetation
Task 5: Equipment Rental
Task 6: Silt Fence
Task 7: Underdrain Construction
Task 8: Tree Planting
TASK 1 MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION
This task shall comply with specification 1.0, Mobilization/Demobilization, attached.
6
