present within the Project Area. Note, however, that this
figure is an estimation only, and that only a portion of the
materials within the Project Area will be demolished. CONTRACTORS
are encouraged to perform independent verification measurements in
order to ascertain the true volume of materials within the Project
Area. Past demolition experience at Coal Basin indicates that
substantial quantities of rebar are present within most concrete
structures.
The Project Area encompasses the former location of a wash plant,
thermal drier facility, offices, parking areas, incidental
buildings, conveyor belt route, and various other structures. All
concrete materials, asphaltic materials and block wall materials
located within the Project Area, outside of the designated disposal
areas, must be demolished and disposed of. Demolition must be
accomplished to a depth of at least three feet (3') below ground
surface, as measured immediately adjacent to any one structure.
Some foundations and structures may not be visible at ground
surface.
Except as otherwise described in this Invitation and Bid, all
rubble and assorted debris, including metallic materials,
miscellaneous trash, debris and scrap encountered in the project
area will be removed and placed with the building rubble at the
designated disposal areas so that no rubble or debris remain at the
work areas except at the disposal areas. Scrap wood materials
shall be segregated from other debris and stockpiled in a location
designated by PROJECT MANAGER.
In order to assure that all of the target materials are identified,
the Project Area will be ripped by dozer during performance of the
Project. Ripping shall occur to a depth of eighteen inches (18 "),
minimum. Subsurface structures, including asphalt and concrete
debris and rubble identified during the ripping of the site shall
be demolished and disposed of as per the enclosed specifications.
Foundations, footers and similar reinforced materials may be
demolished and disposed of per Task 5, Additional Demolition.
Failure to describe specific concrete, asphalt or block wall
structures in this Invitation and Bid does not negate the
requirement to complete demolition as per these specifications. A
map taken from the Mid - Continent Resources Permit Application is
attached to this Invitation and Bid. This map depicts the
locations of the structures which were located within the Project
Area, as represented by Mid - Continent Resources to the Division of
Minerals and Geology. The map may not thoroughly describe all
structures which have been constructed within the Project Area, nor
does it depict asphalt pads and roads.
Certain concrete structures will not be removed during performance
of this Project. These structures are the wing walls associated
with the two large culverted crossings of Coal Creek, the concrete
2
