will be constructed so that they are no steeper than 5H:1V. The channel depth will be
2.5 feet prior to placing rip rap. Rip rap averaging four to six inches (4" to 6"), as
measured across the long axis of any single rock, will be placed within the channel at
this location. The rip rap will extend from side to side of the channel (side slopes and
base) for the ten feet (10') width of the low water crossing.
Upon completion of the surface drainage, the flow from the existing Rock Tunnel
drainage will be diverted into the newly constructed channel. The old channel, from the
point of divergence from the new channel, shall be filled with earthen materials
excavated during construction of the new channel. The old channel will be graded flat.
A sump is located at the end of the old channel (north of the intersection of the old and
new channels). This sump shall be dewatered, and filled with dirt. The dirt shall be
compacted until refusal during filling operations.
Rock Dump Channel
A small three hundred and fifty feet (350') long drainage channel will be constructed on
the Rock Dump in order to convey runoff from the top and north side of the facility to
the large swale on the south side of the pile. PROJECT MANAGER will stake the
location of the channel in the field prior to initiation of work.
The channel will be trapezoidal in shape, having a two feet (2') bottom width and side
slopes no steeper than 3HAV. The minimum depth of the channel shall be two feet (2')
as measured from the bottom of the channel to the adjacent ground surface. These
dimensions must be achieved after placement of rip rap.
Rip rap shall consist of durable rock material averaging four inches (4") in diameter, as
measured across the long axis of any single rock, will be placed within the channel at
this location. The rip rap will extend from side to side of the channel (side slopes and
base). I
Measurement and Payment
Drainages will be measured to the nearest linear foot. Payment for this task will be
paid for at prices established in Task 5, sub-tasks a and b on the Invitation and Bid
sheet per linear foot installed. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for
all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the
furnishing of all materials and construction of the Drainages as directed and described
in the specifications. Payment will be as this task is completed and approved by the
PROJECT MANAGER. Payment for this task will be made only for the unit price
shown under Task 5, sub-tasks a and b, of the Bid Schedule.
TASK 6 ROAD WORK Reclamation of the roads leading to the
