Roughening of the backfilled Upper and Lower Sutey access roads, and of the Belt
Line Transfer road is described in Task 4, Road Grading. Roughening of all other
areas, including the top of the refuse disposal area, will consist of creating an
undulating soil surface using a dozer or other similar equipment. The undulations will
consist of small hummocks eight to ten feet (8' to 10') in width and six to eight inches in
height. Side slopes of these features cannot be steeper than 31-1:1 V. These features
will be created in a random pattern, but shall always be constructed perpendicular to
the fall of any slope upon which they may be constructed. At a minimum, sixty such
features shall be created per acre.
Areas To Be Topsoiled, And Approximate Acreage:
Location Acreage Notes
Sutey Upper, Lower Access Roads See Task 4
Belt Line Transfer Road See Task 4
Ditch 8 Vicinity See Task 8
Coal Refuse Pile
Area West Of Coal Refuse Pile
Area North of Coal Refuse Pile
Slope South Of Coal Refuse Pile
Old Coal Stockpile Area
Area East Of Road A
Site and material conditions are such that extremely dusty conditions may result from
the excavation, hauling and deposition of topsoil materials. PROJECT MANAGER may
require CONTRACTOR to implement dust control procedures throughout the Project
Area for the duration of the Project. Such practices, such as applying water to work
areas and roadways, are considered to be normal construction practices, and shall not
result in additional expense to OWNER.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a
lump sum bid under Item 10 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all
costs for removal of stockpiled topsoil, distribution of topsoil onto the affected areas of
the Project Area, roughening of soil. Such payment shall be considered full
compensation for all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary and
incidental to the placement of topsoil as directed and described in the specifications.
Payment for this task will be made only for the unit price shown under Item 10 of the
Bid Schedule. Payment shall be as this task is completed and approved by the
PROJECT MANAGER.
20
