Coal Basin / Rock Tunnel Vicinity Reclamation Project
this is set up as either a stand alone project, or as an insert into the Facilities area bid.
This plan comports with the concepts provided to MCR in the spring of 98.
ROCK TUNNEL VICINITY PROJECT
The purpose of the Rock Tunnel Vicinity Project is to complete certain Tasks
contemplated in the Reclamation plan of the permit. These Tasks were not completed
previously as access to certain areas was still needed, and final disposition of certain
structures was in dispute.
The Tasks to be accomplished in completion of this Project include the following:
TASK 1 MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION
This Task shall comply with Specification 1.0, Mobilization / Demobilization, attached.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a lump sum
bid under Item 1 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs fort Mobilization and
Demobilization. Payment shall be made as described in Specification 1.0, Mobilization /
Demobilization, attached.
TASK 2 DEMOLITION
The goal of this Task is to accomplish demolition and disposal of the Lamp House, the pump
house located near Dutch Creek and of the Water Tank located uphill and due west of
the Rock Tunnel (see Map , Project Area). Structures will be demolished and
foundations and footers will be removed to three feet below ground surface. All rubble,
including rebar and miscellaneous materials generated as a result of the demolition
process will be transported to the base of the east end of the Rock Tunnel back wall,
which is currently unreclaimed, for disposal. PROJECT MANAGER will delineate the
margins of the disposal area in the field prior to the beginning of the Project. It is
anticipated that the volume of demolished material may exceed the capacity of this
area, therefore, a hole will be excavated at the base of the wall to accommodate the
estimated volume of material of rubble and earth which will be placed at this location.
All rubble and miscellaneous materials must be buried by a minimum of four feet (4') of
earthen materials during the completion of Task , Earth Work. Therefore, debris and
rubble must be placed tightly against the backwall, and pushed together so that void
spaces are minimized.
