Measurement and Payment
Sediment containment fences will be measured to the nearest linear foot. Payment for this
task will be paid for at prices established in Task 2 of the Bid Schedule per linear foot
installed. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for all labor, materials,
equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the furnishing and placement of the
Sediment containment fences as directed and described in the specifications. Payment will
be as this task is completed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. Payment for this task
will be made only for the unit price shown under Task 2 of the Bid Schedule.
TASK 3 EARTHWORK
There are two overall objectives of the earthwork task. The first is to ensure that the
appropriate landform is achieved by accomplishing final grading at the two refuse facilities.
The second objective is to place soil medium on the refuse facilities in order to encourage
adequate revegetation of these sites. Following construction of the final grades, each refuse
facility will have topsoil replaced upon it to facilitate revegetation. Task 3 is divided into two
sub-asks: Task 3a, Sutey Pile Grading and Topsoil Placement and Task 3b, Old Refuse Pile
Grading and Topsoiling.
Sutey Pile Grading and Topsoil Placement
Final grading of the Sutey Refuse Disposal Facility (Sutey Pile) will be accomplished as a result
of this task (Map 4, Sutey Refuse Disposal Facility). This will involve grading a series of
existing benches located near the upper portion and the south eastern portion of the pile so
that the benches are eliminated and so that these areas blend with the rest of the pile. Final
grading will also accomplish burial of existing conveyor foundations located on the refuse
facility by a minimum of four (4) feet of cover. However, foundations located at the top of
the facility and others located immediately above the top of Ditch 8 must be removed from
their current locations to a depth of three (3) feet. The foundation debris and rubble may be
buried on site by a minimum of four (4) feet of cover during grading operations.
Concurrent with final grading operations, a number of drainage ditches will be constructed on
the Sutey Refuse Disposal Facility to route drainage from the surface of the pile. These
drainage ditches are described, and will be paid for under Task 4, Surface Drainages.
Topsoil will be placed upon the Sutey Refuse Facility. Approximately 36,000 cubic yards of
topsoil material will be spread evenly over approximately 13.1 acres at the disposal facility
to an average thickness of 20 inches. The topsoil will be derived from two adjacent topsoil
stockpiles. Compaction will be accomplished up and down slopes so that the track-machine
grouser marks are parallel to the contour.
Old Refuse Pile Grading and Topsoil Placement
Portions of the Old Refuse Pile have previously been reclaimed. Approximately five (5) acres
of the pile still need to be reclaimed (Map 5, Old Refuse Pile). Reclamation work will be
conducted in a manner which minimizes disturbance to the previously-reclaimed portions of
the facility. Grading of the Old Refuse Pile will occur in the vicinity of the refuse conveyor
in order to blend this area with the surrounding portions of the pile. The majority of the
grading will occur on the lower portion of the pile in the area of the conveyor.
7
