foot was agreed upon.
Bogue Construction was also directed to remove accumulated steel
and miscellaneous junk adjacent to the concrete channel and to then
construct an emergency channel . This was accomplished with the 850
dozer on June 9, 1995.
On June 17, 1995 during heavy rains at the site, it was discovered
that the sump which drains the eastern portion of the facilities
area was blocked. Previous to this discovery, contact with Mid-
Continent officials were unsuccessfully attempted. It was observed
that the facilities area east of the main access road was becoming
flooded and that the berm north west of the sump had partially
breached. There was a concern that further rainfall would result
in a serious breach of the containment berm with discharge
reporting to Coal Creek. Bogue Construction was directed to open
the clogged sump discharge pipe. This was initially attempted with
the 690 backhoe, however it had to be diverted to maintain the
cement channel. Subsequently, the 416 backhoe was utilized to open
the discharge structure.
C:\wp51\midc\maint\chngo
