Summary of Public Input <br /> During the development of the proposed Land Use Plan, local governments, state and federal agencies, <br /> and private citizens and organizations were consulted for their input in identifying issues and <br /> developing objectives for management direction within the unit. <br /> The following needs and desires were expressed: <br /> 1. Maintain high air and water quality <br /> 2. Maintain and enhance existing wildlife hapitat <br /> 3. Maintain the rural character of the Crystal River Valley <br /> 4. Protect the scenic beauty of the Crystal River Valley <br /> 5. Provide for a backcountry experience by restricting vehicular access <br /> 6. Protect soils and enhance vegetative cover where erosion potential exists <br /> 7. Provide for timber harvesting on highly productive sites <br /> 8. Coordinate with local governmental entities to prevent placing a burden on local taxpayers for <br /> supportive services <br /> B. Public Meetings <br /> 1. Date and Place: February 8, 1973 @ Carbondale <br /> Purpose: Announce the initiation of Thompson Creek study and request public participation. <br /> 2.
