Coal <br /> Basin now has good diversity because of its aspen and conifer <br /> stands and occasional park lands , and development of the <br /> recreational facility should increase the diversity , as will <br /> vegetation of the roads and portal areas . <br /> Summer recreational use which includes hiking , photo- <br /> graphy and horseback riding, should not prove disturbing to <br /> the wildlife. <br /> The Forest Service intends to use the existing road <br /> system to control species density . Hunters will be allowed <br /> access to those roads leading to areas of overabundant <br /> wildlife, and denied access to areas where wildlife needs <br /> protection. <br /> F. Livestock Grazing <br /> Livestock grazing is confined entirely to the summer <br /> months , so development of winter recreational facilities <br /> should have no impact on grazing . <br /> Summer recreational use is expected to have no impact <br /> on the grazing use. Further , ski runs and vegetated road- <br /> ways and portals will improve the available forage . <br /> The U . S . Forest Service indicates that the road <br /> system now in existence will prove useful for the postmining <br /> administration of domestic livestock grazing permits . <br /> The numbers of cattle permitted to graze in the Coal <br /> Basin area is determined on a yearly basis by the Forest <br /> -35- <br />
